Invite Your Fear For Tea {poem}

Jul 11, 2017

Your fear has a purpose

To try to keep you safe.

To stay inside your comfort zone.

To slow your transformational pace.

What if you just stopped

And gave your fear a hug?

Instead of running from it

Or sweeping it under the rug?

What if you embraced the fear

That keeps you from your growth?

What if it was on your team?

So you could benefit the most.

What if you turned around

To look your fear right in the eyes.

To shrink the fear monster

Right back down to size.

To uncover the truth that lies within

By pulling back the curtain;

By stripping away the layers

You'll find golden nuggets, for certain.

Investigate and explore the murky waters

Perceive fear totally brand new.

To unravel and unhook its power

So it can quit puppeteering you.

It's easy to be hard on yourself

For being scared to make a change.

For hesitating to take the plunge.

To stay in the 'normal' range.

You see your fears as demons.

But it's time to make them your friend.

Team up to make your magic.

Give your story an unbelievable end.

So, stop and ask your fear,

"What am I actually scared of here?

What's the worst that can happen?"

Allow your fear to be your mirror.

Instead of trying to slay your fear,

Try to give your fear some love.

Love the scared shitless parts of you

In order to transform and rise above.

Ask, "What wisdom is hidden under?

Fear, What are you trying to show me?"

Go on, invite your fear for tea.

What you uncover will set you free.
